Do you ski? No, I have people skiing for me!
But what if, just for a single time, you had to ski by yourself?
I had to do a task that was not part of my skill set. It wasn’t a difficult task, and I had seen many people doing it, so I knew I could do it too.
I estimated it would take about four hours and started early in the morning to have enough “buffer time” in case it took longer. So, let’s do it.
After 3 hours I asked myself about the status, and because I didn’t even know how much I had done, I gave myself that ”hmm” look.
After another 3 hours, I wondered if I was on the right track. Do I need help?
I finished it the next day.
All this time I thought about my team and how I was stressing them with “How much longer will this take?”, “Are you sure that you’re on the right track?”, “Why is this taking so long?” and other disturbing questions….
It was a good exercise for me.
So, do you ski? You don’t? Well, maybe it’s time to start skiing too. The snow may be colder than you think and the falls really hurt.
